Easter Books For Babies and Toddlers

I came across this Karen Katz book that is perfect for Easter. It is called Where Are Baby's Easter Eggs?.

It is a board book and the pages have flaps for our kids to lift. My first Karen Katz book was Where Is Baby's Belly Button? . My kids loved that book and I enjoyed reading that book to them. This Easter book is just as colorful and entertaining as all her other lift-the-flap books. Yes I admit, I'm a big fan of Karen Katz books.

Here are some other Easter themed books you might want to check out.

Co-Creator of Berenstain Bears Passes Away

Are you familiar with the children books called Berenstain Bears?

I have quite a few of these books at home and my children loves it. Jan and Stan Berenstain created those books and the stories teaches values in a wonderful way. Children read about how the Bear family deal with common family problems such as eating healthy, telling the truth, cleaning up your messy room, stopping bad habits like nail biting, sibling rivalry etc....

Well, the sad news is Jan Berenstain recently passed away last Friday at age 88. It is reported that she had a severe stroke. Her husband Stan passed away in 2005.

So, will there be anymore Berenstain Bear books?
Sure there will. Their children will continue to run the business. Their son Mike had been working with his mother as an illustrator. Another son Leo, is a writer and takes care of the business side of things.

Well, I hope they keep those books coming. It is a joy to read and has given me inspiration and ideas on how to handle certain parenting problems.

Rest In Peace Jan Berenstain! And many thanks for the wonderful stories.

MAMAS PARENTING TIP
One of the best way to teach your children values is by reading stories that promote it. It is not nagging or a lecture. It doesn't attack them. They enjoy the stories and when you read it over and over again, the lesson will eventually stick in their head and heart.

Book Review: It Could Have Been Worse

I love children books. I enjoy looking for books for my children to read, be it at a bookstore, book sale or library. And scouting for books have been even more interesting the day my children decided they wanted to choose their own books. This is where you see what sort of stuff they are interested in. For example, at one time K would look for books about going to the doctors. D still looks for dinosaur and dragon books. I usually go for whatever books with a good story line and captivating illustrations. Of course I also try to look out for books that have won awards or recommended by teachers.

Well, I've been wanting to blog on books that we've read and enjoyed. Now that blogger allows for labels, what better time to start. Keep track of our favorite books filed under the label "Children Books".

Let me start off with this book. It's called "IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE".
A little mouse is on his way home but he seems to have some bad luck falling off branches, dropping into a hole, sitting on some prickly stuff, falling into the water etc.... Sounds like a bad day right? Well, what the mouse doesn't know is that his bad luck was actually his good luck. You see, if he hadn't fallen off the branches, he would have been eaten by a cat. Or if he didn't fall into a hole, an eagle would have gotten him. So you see, it could have been worse.
This story isn't just for kids. It was a good one for me too. I had some bad luck that week with the car battery going dead several times and then having a punctured tyre. Well, as the book says, "it could have been worse".
